Craft Guild Meetings
The Craft Guild will also meet on the second Saturday of each month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. In 2025, we will explore Native American beading techniques. Over the years, Kirstyn and Mary have each developed their unique methods, and both will be sharing their favorite techniques with participants.

Our beading journey will begin with off-loom bead weaving, a technique used to create strong beaded ribbons. We will then move on to bent-stick loom weaving, a method found at archaeological sites across all continents, except Antarctica. Potential projects include creating a beaded ribbon for a drawstring bag, a bracelet, or a hatband.

To further enhance our skills, we will explore picot stitches, commonly used to finish ribbons. We will also create practical cup covers to demonstrate this technique. For the adventurous, we will tackle two-needle embroidery, the traditional method used to craft rosettes.

Please note that we will not be replicating any Native American artifacts or modern works. Instead, we will be creating original designs inspired by our personal interests and cultural connections.

To participate in this activity, we kindly ask that you commit to attending regularly and working on your projects between meetings. Basic materials will be provided at the first session to help you get started—just bring your smile and perhaps your favorite scissors. After that, you may need to purchase additional materials based on your chosen projects. However, we will share donated materials to help offset costs.
